LAURA ESQUER
CREATIVE DESIGN

L3Harris Engineers Week 2026
Role: Lead Designer & Creative Strategist
The Vision: Engineering a Global Experience:
As the Lead Designer for Engineers Week (EWeek) 2026, I steered the creative vision for a high-visibility internal branding project centered on the theme Transform Your Future. My objective was to move beyond a simple "event logo" and instead engineer a comprehensive visual ecosystem that felt authentic to a technical audience while driving global employee engagement.
Strategic Collaboration & Stakeholder Buy-In
A project of this scale requires more than just design, it requires creative diplomacy. I acted as the bridge between Communications Leadership and Engineering Stakeholders:
-
Concepting with Purpose: I developed several creative directions, presenting them to leadership to ensure the narrative aligned with the company’s 2026 strategic goals.
-
Engineering Authenticity: I worked hand-in-hand with engineering teams to vet the visual metaphors. It was vital that the "technical" elements of the design felt credible to the experts being celebrated, ensuring the final look earned their genuine buy-in.
-
Comm-Led Strategy: I collaborated with the Communications team to ensure the "Transform Your Future" messaging was woven into every visual, maintaining AP-style consistency and a unified brand voice.
The Design System: Technical Momentum
I designed a visual system that pairs a technical, node-based aesthetic with a bold yellow chevron shape. This wasn't just a stylistic choice; it was a functional one:
-
The Node System: Represented the interconnected, complex nature of our global engineering projects.
-
The Chevron: Served as a "wayfinding" anchor, symbolizing professional momentum and the forward-thinking nature of the theme.
The Experience: Scaling the Touchpoints
Experience planning is about ensuring a seamless journey from the first email to the final event day. I scaled this cohesive identity across a massive range of global touchpoints:
-
Digital Environment: Custom Teams backgrounds, multiple social media graphics, intranet hero graphics and animated email headers to create a "digital venue."
-
Broadcast & Video: Title cards and lower-thirds for global town halls and internal video spotlights.
-
Physical Experience: Limited-edition event T-shirts and wearable swag that turned employees into brand ambassadors.
-
Environmental: Large-scale digital boards and office signage to give the campaign a physical presence in global hubs.
The Impact: A Global Success Story
-
The "Transform Your Future" identity exceeded all internal engagement benchmarks, resonating deeply across both our technical workforce and our executive board.
-
Employee Sentiment: Feedback indicated that the "Engineering-first" aesthetic made teams feel truly seen and celebrated. By moving away from generic corporate imagery and toward a node-based, technical visual language, we fostered a genuine sense of professional pride and belonging.
-
Executive Approval: Communications leadership and senior stakeholders praised the campaign for its polished, high-production feel. The work demonstrated how a strategic design system could unify a global organization under a single rallying cry.
The Legacy: Building an Evergreen Asset
Because of the campaign’s overwhelming success and its high "buy-in" from the engineering community, Communications Leadership has designated this visual identity as an evergreen brand asset. Moving forward, the system I designed will serve as the permanent foundation for all future EWeek celebrations. My role involved creating a sustainable "Style Playbook" that allows the brand to remain fresh year-over-year:
-
The Foundation: The core Chevron and Node system remains the stable identifier, building long-term brand equity and "event recall."
-
The Iteration: The system is designed for slight annual adjustments—such as evolving the accent color palette or secondary patterns—allowing the event to feel current without requiring a total (and costly) rebrand.
The Result:
I didn't just design a week-long event, I created a lasting piece of the company’s cultural infrastructure that will continue to drive engagement for years to come.
